Board of Ed Workshop tomorrow, Thurs., Nov. 6th, 7:30pm

Fellow Taxpayers,

There is a Board of Ed Workshop tomorrow, Thurs., Nov. 6th, 7:30pm, at the High School Media Center. This is not devoted to the budget, but there will be a chance to speak. I just spoke with Neysa, the Business Administrator and was told Phase 2 of the $26 million dollar bond issue is being given out for bids. That is the largest portion of the bond; $20+ million dollars. It entails:

  • field and track work,
  • 10 new science classrooms,
  • a locker room, and
  • revamping the heating system with a back-up to the main system.

The rationale is that the school is 40 years old and has not been improved over the years due to the community rejecting the bond issues. With hindsight being 20/20, it would have been good to have done this when Central Hudson was paying such a large portion of our budget. The heating system they want to install will be either natural gas or propane. The Board is in negotiations with Central Hudson on bringing the line for natural gas up from 9W. The School system will pay a portion.

There is so much to do and we all need to participate to accomplish anything. Try to make the meeting. Just your presence is important.

The Budget meeting is Nov. 20th. I don’t have the time, it’s at the Marlboro Intermediate School. Details but can be found by calling Irene at 236-5802.

Sincerely, Carol Link 795-5809
