Meal help guidelines

No one should go hungry in the largest superpower in the world, yet there are over 17.3 million people who do.

It’s bad enough that the number of hungry children in Sullivan, Orange and Ulster counties who must rely on school to eat has reached an all-time high. But the record number of kids who get free or reduced-price meals reflects two troubling trends:

Hunger among children is such a fact of life, schools now have their own food pantries.

And while some speak of the recession ending, local educators see the number of hungry children continuing to grow during the next few years.

If your annual income meets these levels, you might be eligible for free or reduced-price school meals. Contact your school district for more information:

Household size Annual Income
1 $20,036
2 $26,955
3 $33,874
4 $40,793
5 $47,712
6 $54,631
7 $61,550
8 $68,469
